  • Trump’s Vengeance Tour

    Robert Reich

They wonder how to gauge the seriousness of Trump’s increasingly dire threats to American democracy and potentially to them and their families. “They are scared to do what I did — [to expatriate from the U.S.] — but are scared to stay,” Jim said. He tells them: “If you can afford it, buy a second home in France, or Spain, or Portugal, wherever … a second home that could become a safe house.”

I’ve heard similar concerns in recent months from lawmakers, officials, prosecutors, journalists, and celebrities who have been publicly critical of Trump.

They worry about Trump’s promise of “retribution” if reelected, his intention to direct the Justice Department to investigate “every Marxist prosecutor in America,” his claim that his indictments have “released the genie out of the box” that would allow him to weaponize the government against his opponents, and his vow to “root out … the radical-left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country.”

This is not what an American President should be. We don’t need a narcissist with visions of vengeance running the country.

A vote for Trump is a vote for the end of American Democracy.

Vote Joe Biden for President if only to save the Republic. You don’t have to like him or what he stands for. The alternative is much, much, worse.

  • We’re on our own

    Ian Millhiser • Vox

The Supreme Court has ordered the most important of former President Donald Trump’s four criminal trials to be put on hold indefinitely. It’s an extraordinary victory for Trump and a devastating blow to special counsel Jack Smith. The Court’s decision also raises serious doubts about whether these justices will allow a trial to take place before the November election.

We are most certainly on our own as a nation. Mr. Millhiser paints a clear picture for us. There’s no way Trump’s trial will be completed, much less started, before the election.

If we don’t turn out like we did in 2020 the country and our democracy are lost.

  • Amen Brother

    Agreed, dear friend
  • For now, yes

Let’s make sure we re-elect Joe Biden in November!
  • Time to wake up

  • No to Theocracy

    Sums it up nicely
  • DUH! It’s all about delaying

It’s all about delaying the trial and ultimate conviction in hopes he wins the election.

SCOTUS is part of the plot to delay things.

  • Fucking Supreme Court

This is a clear and total victory for Trump. The trial will not conclude before the election, heck, it may not even get started, but that was the plan all along.

Nice work SCOTUS, by taking this up you’ve driven another nail in the coffin of American Democracy.

    Fuck Trump.
